Mark Diel

Mark Diel is a dedicated leader with a career spanning over 25 years in healthcare access and advocacy. His commitment to expanding equitable healthcare coverage has shaped the work of dozens of organizations and provided vital health care services to millions of Californians.
Mark dedicated 19 years to California Coverage & Health Initiatives (CCHI), beginning as a founding board member and later as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), a role that he held for 10 years. Under his leadership, CCHI established its reputation as a statewide leader in health advocacy, enrollment assistance, and policy change.
Before joining CCHI, Mark started and managed community clinics in underserved neighborhoods in Los Angeles, ran public health programs including WIC in Yolo County, and served as the founding CEO of California Community Health Initiative (CalCHI) for 9 years, leading efforts to connect California’s most vulnerable populations to healthcare coverage and social services.
Under his leadership, CalCHI expanded its statewide impact, strengthening partnerships and outreach programs that helped thousands of families navigate the complexities of Medi-Cal and other health programs.
Mark’s passion for health equity and access have left a lasting impact on countless Californians, and organizations throughout the state. He is a respected voice in California’s healthcare policy landscape, frequently engaging with legislators, advocacy groups, and other healthcare organizations to push for systemic improvements.
In January 2025, Mark transitioned out of his role as CCHI’s CEO, leaving behind a legacy of innovation and expanded access to care. His impact continues to be felt through the work of CCHI’s members, community partners, and communities that he empowered during his tenure.

Medi-Medi Resources
CCHI is proud to partner with CalDuo for the Medi-Medi Project, aimed towards assisting dual-eligible seniors with Medi-Cal and Medicare enrollment and navigation.
The documents below are part of the Medi-Medi training curriculum and are meant for Community Based Organizations (CBOs), Health Access Assisters (HAAs), Promotores, and leadership staff to use towards OERU work for seniors seeking assistance.
