Meet Alexis Heaton!
As Executive Director of California Coverage & Health Initiatives (CCHI), Alexis Heaton leads a statewide network dedicated to improving the health and well-being of Californians by supporting member organizations in meeting the needs of their communities.
Alexis is deeply committed to supporting and uplifting the voices of CCHI’s member organizations—those who understand their communities best and are uniquely equipped to advocate for their needs. Her leadership is rooted in collaboration, compassion, and the belief that meaningful change begins in community.
Outside of her work, Alexis finds joy and balance in her home life. She and her husband of nearly ten years share their lives with four beloved rescue dogs, and she is passionate about animal rescue and rehabilitation. When she isn’t working or walking her dogs, you can often find her baking something new to share with family and friends.
Alexis’s Commitment & Vision
“I am deeply honored and humbled to serve as Executive Director of California Coverage & Health Initiatives (CCHI).
CCHI’s mission is to improve the health and well-being of Californians by supporting our members in meeting the needs of their communities. This mission is deeply personal to me. As the daughter of an immigrant and someone who has experienced poverty and food insecurity, I am committed to dedicating our work to the neighbors who are too often forgotten or left behind. From a young age, I’ve been motivated to serve, to give back, and to help build systems that reflect compassion, dignity, and equity.
I am committed to supporting and uplifting the voices of our member organizations—those who understand their communities best and are uniquely equipped to advocate for their needs. Our members are the heart of CCHI, and their leadership continues to shape how we advance equitable access to healthcare across California.
In this role, my focus remains on strengthening our statewide network and fostering collaboration between community-based organizations, health systems, and policymakers. Together, we are building a stronger, more connected, and more equitable California—one rooted in partnership, data-driven innovation, and community-centered advocacy.
